We all knew it would happen, but EA has confirmed that they will be releasing a FIFA World Cup game to coincide with Football’s biggest event, later this year.

As you would expect, the game is being released on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PSP. Although a DS version wasn’t announced we’d bet good money that it will come out on the dual screened console as well.

All 199 teams that took part in the qualifying rounds will appear in the game, so countries like Ireland and Scotland still have a chance of winning the virtual prize. All ten South African stadiums will feature in the game as well.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will be out on April 30th in Europe, while American gamers can get their hands on it three days earlier.
The only question that we’d like to raise is: why hasn’t this been offered as DLC for FIFA 10? Why should EA expect people to fork over £40 (because you know that it’ll be expensive) for a cut-down version of FIFA 10 with the words ‘South Africa’ slapped on the box. This is nothing more than a rip-off. Shame on you, EA.
