Sony has postponed the launch of its flagship racer, Gran Turismo 5, which will no longer be out in Japan in March as previously announced.

Most concerning is Sony's failure to set a new release date, leaving the games eventual release up in the air.

The delay has been put down to "production-related matters," although UK and US dates had not yet been set, series producer Kazunori Yamauchi had previously said they shouldn't deviate too far from the Japanese release.

Looks like you’re stuck with that copy of GT5 Prologue for a little while longer.

UPDATE!

Sony has released a statement saying that the expected delay of Gran Turismo 5 will only be applicable in Japan.

"This information on the GT release is only applicable for the Japanese market."

"SCEE will announce the launch date for this game in the PAL territories in due course."

So could GT5 be released over here before it’s out in Japan? Chances are quite unlikely, but you never know. Stranger things have happened, at least… we think they have.
