Another story of someone getting their comeuppance, or rather a distribution company.
Nintendo have been awarded $520,000 in damages, regarding the notorious R4 card. The Australian Federal Court ruled that local distributor RSJ IT Solutions had been illegally selling the R4 cards, which allows users to play pirated DS games.
Two individuals associated with the company were also ordered to pay Nintendo an additional $100,000 in penalties.
First it the New Super Mario Bros. Wii court case and now this R4 one, both of which involved Australians. We’re starting to get the feeling that the folks down-under rather steal a game and face legal action instead of spending their money. Crazy Aussies.
