Even thought Resident Evil 5 wasn’t a smash hit compared to number four, Capcom have announced that they are planning to release an ‘Alternative Edition’ on the PlayStation 3 which will support the new EyeToy-compatible motion controller.

They also announced that an Xbox 360 version is being planned, but whether it will have Natal incorporated into it is yet to be known.
Project leader, Miho Suzuki, said:

"In regards to the Xbox 360, a lot of fans have enjoyed the game on the console. So we are working to release the additional content in another format, as a product."

Another addition to the ‘Alternate Edition’ is a new episode featuring Chris and Jill. The episode will be based on the flashback scene from the original RE5, where the two characters infiltrate the Spencer estate in Europe.

"It was a key incident in Resident Evil 5, but it was only there as a flashback scene," Miho said. "In Alternative Edition, you'll actually be able to play through it. We had a lot of requests from fans about it."

Question. Why can’t this new Chris and Jill episode be in the form of DLC? And why the Hell do we need motion control? It all sounds like a complete waste of money, if you ask us.

Microsoft Game Studios’ corporate vice president, Phil Spencer, has recently commented on the possibility of Fable incorporating the forthcoming Natal technology.

"You know, Lionhead's been a real innovation studio for us."
"We have the release of Fable 2 episodic this week, where they're taking Fable 2 and breaking it up into chunks, allowing people to buy the content at their pace. Fable 2, I thought, was a great release, with the orbs they added with Live, adding new functionality to the franchise. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Natal found its way into future iterations of Fable."

The motion sensing capabilities of Natal do lend themselves quite well to Fable III as you take the role of a King or Queen in the land of Albion. Imaging waving to the citizens of your kingdom, or even beating the crap out of a bandit. The possibilities could be endless.

Remember when we told you about a PSP version of HOME? Well we’ve now found out that the service will now be known as Room.

Room will be added to the PSP via a firmware update later in the winter and will be launched directly from the PlayStation Network. Users will be able to invite other people to their room to
"enjoy real time communication" as apposed to inviting your ‘real friends’ to your ‘real room’.
You get to design your own cute, anime looking, avatar which will act like a hermit and live in the room for the rest of it’s miserable life. Hopefully, Room will introduce some sort of connectivity to PS3’s HOME or even a friends list.

Ubisoft have been talking about their working relationship with Microsoft on the upcoming Splinter Cell: Conviction. The games producer, Alexandre Parizeau said:

“There's going to be a really strong partnership with Microsoft. "Obviously we'll do everything that we can do to make sure that the experience is indebted with whatever the Xbox has to offer.”

"I want to make sure that when the game hits the shelves the disc will 'meld' with your Xbox 360 - it's meant for the Xbox 360 and it will show."

"We've been working with Microsoft for a while now. We've been working with their engineers - we've had super good feedback from them on all sorts of different things. It's been a really good partnership with them. They're backing us up. There's no question that they're supporting the game to its fullest."

Splinter Cell: Conviction is due for release in February 2010.

It looks like the inevitable has happened with Nintendo finally announcing that a price cut for the Wii will happen on October 2nd along with a new bundle.

The new bundle will include Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and a Motion Plus adapter even though Nintendo, themselves, said that Wii Sports Resort would never be included with the console. Looks like they had a change of heart.

As for the price cut, Nintendo have not announced a specific price for their newest bundle other than saying:
"the trade of Wii is a confidential figure between Nintendo and its retail customers", but have confirmed that it will be cheaper than the current £199.99 price tag. Now, we know what you’re thinking: “£199.99? Wasn’t it £179.99 when it came out?” Well yes, it was £179.99, but due to the "unprecedented and sustained depreciation of the pound" Nintendo was forced to increase the price a few months ago.

A spokesman from Nintendo said:

"Our aim has always been to expand the gaming population and there are still many more people out there who have not yet experienced the fun of video games. This compelling offer will hopefully make Wii more accessible to everyone."

Whatever the price is, the addition of Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus is a far more appealing offer than the original bundle. But what will the final price be? We bet it’ll be no less than £170.

Show of hands. Who hasn't got one of these?

Sony have confirmed that a new 250Gb version of the PS3 Slim along with a choice of game and some other stuff. There’s a lot of information to digest, so here is the full announcement from Sony:

Sony Computer Entertainment UK today announced a line-up of PlayStation3 (PS3) bundles for the holiday season, consisting of a PS3 with a 250GB hard disc drive and a selection of software and content for £284.99. From 1st October a choice of soft bundles containing either 2 x Platinum titles or inFamous will be available.

On 16th October, this range will be expanded to include an Uncharted 2 bundle. Finally, October 19th will see the launch of a Blu-Ray movie pack containing Wolverine, Batman The Dark Knight and a Blu Ray Remote.

Following the great success of the new, smaller, 120GB PS3, which sold over 1m units in its first three weeks on sale, the 250GB model has the same hardware specifications as the current model, but with greater storage space, to offer consumers even more choice.

The 250GB PS3, with its larger storage capacity, will allow owners to take full advantage of the incredible software line-up and the many multimedia functions available on PS3, whether that is storing and viewing your family photographs, listening to your entire music collection in crisp quality, or watching your favourite home videos or TV shows.

More storage allows you to download more of the latest games and add-ons from PlayStation Store, as well as movies in both HD and SD from the PlayStation Network video delivery service when it launches later this year, without worrying about running out of space.

Lazy journalism? Perhaps, but at least you know exactly what we know now.

The Tokyo Game Show has revealed that the star of Dead Rising, Frank West, has been confirmed as one of the four extra characters that will be appearing in the American and European versions of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, which is exclusive to Wii.

Some of Frank’s moves in the game include: whacking his opponent in the face with a baseball bat, summoning zombies to attack his foe and grabbing his opponents’ legs and swing them round-and-round WWE style like he did in Dead Rising. His super finishing move sees him putting on the Mega Man suit and firing a huge (and we mean HUGE) energy blast.

'With this robot's head, I'm going to beat the shit out of you'
So Frank West, along with the previously announced Tekkaman Blade, have been confirmed as extra characters, that only leaves two more names to be unveiled. We’ve still got our fingers crossed in the hopes that Dante from Devil May Cry will be making an appearance… or Dudley from Street Fighter III. He was awesome.

Announced this morning at the Tokyo Games Show, Sony have revealed that HOME will be making it’s way onto the PSP.

The handheld version of HOME will
let users create blogs, photo albums, and other social networking features such as chat rooms, mini-games, and "real-time communication."

There hasn’t been any word of a virtual world for your avatar to walk around in and act like a complete ’tard like there is on the PS3, but we’ll make sure to let you know if anything changes.
HOME
Now you can be antisocial anywhere you want

This is probably the shortest news story we’ve ever written, EVER, but Sony has confirmed that a demo of God of War III will be included in the God of War Collection which is due to arrive in stores for Christmas.

The collection will include a voucher where you’ll be able to download the E3 demo from the PlayStation Store. God of War III is set for release in March 2010.

With the huge success of their original range of FightPads, FightSticks and Tournament Edition FightSticks Mad Catz have announced that they will be bringing out a ‘Round 2’ range of Street Fighter IV themed controllers.

Six new FightPads will be coming out, each with a different character: M. Bison, Sagat, Guile, Zangief, C. Viper and Cammy. There will also be another version of the Tournament Edition FightStick, but the standard FightStick, however, will not be making a return for the ‘Round 2’ line-up.
These new products, along with their current range of Street Fighter IV controllers and the new Marvel vs. Capcom 2 themed FightStick, are sure to make Mad Catz some serious money. Now if only we could actually find somewhere that had them in stock, then we’d be in business.
