It’s been a while since the cast from Dead or Alive were seen on a Sony console but now they’re coming back and, for the first time in DOA history, they’re making the leap from home consoles to portable ones… well, at least the ladies are.
Dead or Alive: Paradise
That’s right, the female fighters will be heading on to the PSP next year in Dead or Alive: Paradise where they’ll, once again, be on a deserted island doing nothing but swimming in the pool, playing volleyball and gambling in the casino, but this time you can take them anywhere you want, even on the bus where people will defiantly be giving you funny looks as they peer over your shoulder.

Hopefully, with the launch of DOA: Paradise will bring along with it the original PlayStation fighting game to the PS Store so that people can realise that these girls can do more than hit a ball to each other, but that they can actually kick the shit out of people when needed to. Of course, that won’t happen but we can dream, can’t we?

The cult 80’s game, Dragons’ Lair will be coming to DSiWare next year, according to Digital Leisure.
Dragons' Lair
The Laserdisc game, which was a huge success in the early 80’s, will ‘defiantly’ be available to download onto your Dsi on New Year’s Day, so you’ll finally have something interesting to do rather than watching all the New Year’s crap that’s generally on TV.

More fuel to the fire for rumours on PlayStation Network becoming a subscription platform as SCE technology platform boss Masayuki Chatani comments that Sony will “face difficulties” if it continues to rely on the “sell-and forget model”:

“Servers and the like have running costs… after we sell the hardware, though, we continue to sell products such as content and services."

“We expect to see considerable growth in digital content, such as game download services, avatar items and the like."

“We can also accept payment in a growing number of ways."

“In addition to single-payment packaged software, there are also schemes like monthly fees or per-item charges. I think this variety of payment methods will bring about a diverse range of playing methods, too.”

Nintendo have just announced a new range of coloured Wiimotes to arrive in store just in time for valentines day, well in store that is in America at least as Nintendo are yet to set a date for Europe although if your remember back they set a date for the black Wii in America ahead of Europe so we would be pretty surprised if a date is not set soon.

And yes Nintendo has confirmed that they will work with all current Wii peripherals and games (its just a change in colour don’t get roped in by them the white ones look fine)

After it’s world premiere reveal last Saturday at the video game awards ceremony Warner has confirmed it will publish Batman: Arkham Asylum 2, not Square Enix as previously thought. WBIE boss Martin Tremblay commented:

“We are thrilled to build a global game franchise from Batman: Arkham Asylum, which is receiving an incredible response from gamers and fans of Batman around the world."

“Rocksteady has taken Batman to a new level in the video game space and we are committed to delivering a sequel the fans will love.”

Ubisoft have revealed that Forgotten Sands will be set in between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. An obvious issue here of course is that the character will have power over the forces of nature yet this isn’t the case in Warrior Within, so will the game end with a sudden bout of character amnesia?

We’ll find out more closer to the games 2010 May release.

Titled, 'The Passing' the downloadable content will feature new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge, and introduce a new co-op challenge mode along with a new “uncommon common” zombie class, melee weapon and firearm will also be added.

US District Court judge Deborah K. Chasanow has ruled against Bethesda over a motion for an injunction against Interplay over licensing for the Fallout MMO currently in development, and the Fallout Trilogy containing Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics.

This means that Interplay will be able to continue selling the original Fallout titles and continue work on an upcoming Fallout MMO title codenamed Project V13.

Bethesda purchased the franchise from Interplay back in 2007 for $5.75 million and states consumers may be confused between original Fallout titles and Fallout

To be honest we don’t really care there are all ready more then enough MMO’s out there what is one more going to hurt, and as for getting confused imitation is the greatest sense of flattery.

As we all know TIGA have been campaigning for a tax break for the UK gaming industry but have sadly failed after it was revealed last week that Alistair Darling has not made any mention of it in his pre-budget report, TIGA have labelled this as both a “mistake” and a “failure of imagination” CEO Richard Wilson commented

"We have consistently warned the Government that without the introduction of a Games Tax Relief the video games development sector will likely decline by 5% each year over each of the next five years."

"Conversely, if a Games Tax Relief is introduced, then the industry will eventually enjoy annual growth of 4%. In addition, Games Tax Relief will more than pay for itself. Over five years the tax measure would cost £192 million but would deliver £415 million in tax receipts. Games Tax Relief would also secure 3,550 highly skilled graduate level jobs."

He added that it is imperative that the government better aid the industry for it to remain “world beating” and to generally secure its long term position as a digital industries leader.
