Jun Takeuchi, the producer of Lost Planet 2 has confessed that Capcom had to cut a significant amount of content from the Xbox 360version of the game due to the size of the DVD.

In an interview with the Japanese press, Takeuchi explained exactly why the cuts were made.

"There wasn't especially any big trouble. More than those kind of difficulties, the edited content was way too much and dealing with that was more difficult than anything.” said Takeuchi

"This time, truly, the content that was cut was significant and at the end, we had to wrestle with disc space."

So will the PS3 version come withall the missing stuff from the 360 version on release day? Or will we see the deleted content as part of some DLC? We think the latter is more likely.

Some people didn’t like Mario and Sonic’s return to the Olympic circuit, but that hasn’t stop the former arch rivals from shifting over six million copies worldwide.
Mario and Sonic
Sega CEO, Mike Hayes has commented on the success, saying:

"Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is one of the leading third party games for Wii and DS and we were confident the title would have longevity within retail.”

"The start of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games is a perfect time to ensure Sega is at the forefront of the consumer’s mind when it comes to recreating that Olympic Winter Games feeling in living rooms everywhere."

It’s nice to see that the game is performing really well in shops, but what we really want is a Mario & Sonic platform game. Hopefully, if the rumours of Sonic’s appearance in SMG2 are true, we won’t have to wait too long.

EA has released some brand new screenshots of their latest Medal of Honor game, set for release later this year.

The next game is the MoH series will set in the modern day, very similar to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games, and will take place in Afghanistan (very original).
Mind you, the screenshots do look really nice, though.

After having a digg at Microsoft earlier this month, Sony have come back to talk smack about Nintendo.

This time, SCEA
senior VP of publisher relations, Rob Dyer has been telling website Industry Gamers that Third-Party companies aren’t interested in developing games for the Wii because they won’t sell.
Wii & PS3
"What publishers have said is they're not going to spend the resources on Wii,” said Dyer. “In my job, we compete against Microsoft and Nintendo, and we're competing for resources.

"So when I walk into a publisher, I ask, 'Where are you guys pushing your resources?' In the past, it was 'look how hot the Wii is,' or 'Look how hot the DS is,' and 'we should put resources there.' They did that and realised, 'You know what, third-party products just doesn't sell on that platform.'

"Now they're taking those resources, coming back to us and saying, 'Sony we're going to be able to provide you with that exclusive content,' or 'We're going to put more engineers on it and figure out to maximize the Blu-ray and get more out of PS3.' That's what we're seeing now.

"And I don't even have to fight for their hearts and minds. I just show them the TRST data with regards to how many top 10 titles are third-party titles on the Wii, or how many top 10 titles are third-party titles on the DS. Not many.”

"It's not a hard story to sell, and they get that. Unless they've got a particular franchise that's worked well on the Wii, you don't see a lot of innovative new IP coming out on that platform."

Ouch! What a dick.

R4 card
Another story of someone getting their comeuppance, or rather a distribution company.

Nintendo have been awarded $520,000 in damages, regarding the notorious R4 card.
The Australian Federal Court ruled that local distributor RSJ IT Solutions had been illegally selling the R4 cards, which allows users to play pirated DS games.

Two individuals associated with the company were also ordered to pay Nintendo an additional $100,000 in penalties.

First it the New Super Mario Bros. Wii court case and now this R4 one, both of which involved Australians. We’re starting to get the feeling that the folks down-under rather steal a game and face legal action instead of spending their money. Crazy Aussies.

We’ll admit that sometimes things fly under our radar, and we knew nothing about Metal Gear Arcade, but we like the sounds of it. Not because we’re huge fans of the MGS series, but because we love our Arcade games; and we want to play it even more with the news of a headset that adds stereoscopic 3D effects and head tracking to the game.
The goggles are equip with the technology required to create proper stand-out-of-the-screen 3D, and elsewhere on the unit is a gizmo that lets the machine track your head movements, with which you can control the camera in the game.

MGA is basically Metal Gear Online redone for the arcade scene, but it’s playable on both LAN and online set-ups, which lets you connect with other cabinets miles away, along with voice communication.

We’d best start making plans to go to Skegness, again.

Remember last week when you showed you a leaked picture of the possible roster for Super Street Fighter IV? Well, some new images of three new characters have also been leaked onto the web this week.

Street Fighter III’s Dudley, Ibuki and Makoto have all made their return in SSFIV. This will be the first time that the cast of the SFII and Alpha series’ will face up against the 3rd strike crew. The only characters left to be revealed is the all-new fighter, Hakan.
It’s nice to see SFIII fighter make a return, especially Dudley because he was so cool. We can’t wait to see what their Ultra moves will be like.

The Official PlayStation Magazine in America has said that the addition of cross-game chat on the PlayStation 3 could be a subscription-only feature.

"Aside from the 3D goodness, cross-game party chat is the obvious next big feature,' even though it might be restricted to paid [PSN] subscribers," said the magazine.
PlayStation Network
Sonyhas admitted to it’s consideration of introducing paid subscriptions to PSN, although it stressed that all features that are currently free would remain that way, and only new added services, such as unlimited access to PSP and PSone games on PSN, would be introduced with monthly fees.

We can understand pay a fee for unlimited access to PSP and PSone games, but for talking to your mate through separate games seems completely unfair. We’ve been able to cross-chat on our 360, free-of-charge, for years, so why should PS3 owners be expected to fork over a subscription fee? Absolutely bonkers.

Some new information about Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been revealed on the internet.

The screenshot (below) confirmed four of the levels that we can expect to seen in Episode 1 of Sonic’s episodic adventure -
Splash Hill Zone, Casino Street Zone, Lost Labyrinth Zone and Mad Gear Zone. Just the names of these levels already resemble some of the Mega Drive levels.

The other word on the street is that all four of the episode in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will, eventually, be released onto disc for retail sale. Sega hasn’t confirmed this yet, but we’d reckon that they’d be stupid not to do it.

We’ll bring you more info on Sonic 4 as and when we get it.
