E3
Nintendo has confirmed that the new Nintendo 3DS will be playable at E3.

In yesterday‘s announcement, Nintendo said that additional details would be announced at the games show which takes place in June; but chief spokesman, Ken Toyoda has confirmed that members of the press will be able to get their hands on the new 3D handheld.

Toyoda explained why Nintendo decided to announce the 3DS before E3.

"We wanted to give the gaming industry a head's up about what to expect from Nintendo at E3. We'll invite people to play with the new device then."

Be sure to check back when more details of the Nintendo 3DS are revealed.

Ever wanted an Xbox Live Arcade title, but haven’t had enough points to buy it? Well there’s no need to worry because Microsoft are planning to have a sale.
Xbox Live Arcade
According to Major Nelson, the forthcoming Xbox Live Arcade ‘FireSale’ will include 10 popular games at low prices. He said:

"Between April 1st and April 7th, there will be Ten Arcade Games on sale (like Super Street Fighter II HD, South Park LET'S GO TOWER DEFENSE PLAY and Defense Grid: The Awakening) I'll post the complete list of titles and sale prices as soon as get my hands on it.”

It’s a shame that there’ll only be 10 games in the sale, but if it’s the one that you’re looking for then it’s all good news. Only the three games above have been confirmed, but the other seven will be announced soon. Here’s hoping that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 makes the cut.

Super Mario Bros. movie
Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime has said that despite the rubbish Mario Bros. film, made way back in 1993, Hollywood producers are still interested in bringing Mario back to the big screen.

When asked, by the LA Times, if movie producers still approach Nintendo, Fils-Aime replied:

"All the time. The message is, 'Thank you for the interest.' There have been certain [people] that we have talked in more detail with."

But Reggie doesn’t want a repeat of the last Nintendo film. According to Fils-Aime, if a film were to be based on one of Nintendo’s franchises, he’d want a film to be done right, with quality and respect.

"But I think in the end, because we are a content company and are passionate about our franchises, it will be few and far between that actual deals are done to bring our franchises to life in a different way. These are our children."

We have no problem with another Mario Bros. Film (perhaps a CGI movie), we just want everything to be correct. I.E: don’t cast Dennis Hopper as bloody Bowser.

OK, so if you haven’t guessed already we’re really looking forward to Capcom’s Super Street Fighter IV, especially with all of it’s new characters, levels, bonus stages and more. But did you know that they had chosen Hakan over a Brazilian fighter?

The games art director,
Toshiyuki Kamei explained why the Turkish wrestler was chosen over the Brazilian capoeira fighter.
Hakan
"The final two ideas were Brazilian capoeira and Turkish Yagli gures," said Kamei. "For the capoeira guy, we had an interesting idea of moves where he would turn on his head and attack, but ultimately we wanted to go with something we hadn't done before, so that's how we came to use Yagli gures."

He added: "We've featured capoeira in one of our previous titles," presumably referring to Street Fighter III's Elena.

We weren’t too keen on Hakan, at first, be he’s starting to grow on us, so we‘re glad that Capcom went in a different direction. Besides, whenever we think of capoeira we think of the cheapest fighting character in the world… Eddy Gordo from Tekken.

Nintendo has announced that their plans to release a brand new handheld console before March of next year, known as the Nintendo 3DS.

The announcement was made in a newly released investor report, which says:

"...games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses."

The report also says that the 3DS will be the successor to the current DS consoles and will support backwards compatibility for both DS and DSi software. Very impressive.

Here's the English translation of the press release for the 3DS:

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (Minami-ward of Kyoto-city, President Satoru Iwata) will launch ‘Nintendo 3DS‘(temp) during the fiscal year ending March 2011, on which games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses.

‘Nintendo 3DS' (temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed ‘Nintendo DS series‘, whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125 million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed.

We are planning to announce additional details at E3 show, which is scheduled to be held from June 15, 2010 at Los Angeles in the U.S.

The video below shows off one of the newest DSiWare game to hit Japan called 'Rittai Kakushi E Attakoreda' (Hidden 3D Image: There It Is!). This is a good representation of what the 3DS could be like.
It’s also been rumoured that the 3DS will feature an analogue stick, vibration pack and tilt sensors. None of those things have been officially announced, but we’ll find out if they’re true or false at this years E3.

Final Fantasy VII
The president and CEO of Square Enix, Yoichi Wada has said that the Japanese publisher is considering to remake the fan favourite Final Fantasy VII.

But don't expect a remake to be announced any day soon, though, as the company isn't even sure what platform it should bring Final Fantasy VII to.

Speaking to website Siliconera, Wada said:

"Right now we don't have a clear direction, but many fans have requested we remake Final Fantasy VII."

"We're going to explore the possibility - whether or not we're going to do it, if we're going to do it, and the platform."

It clear that the people at Square Enix are keen to remake the classic PlayStation game, because Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase said, last month:

"If it were possible that we had all the right facilities and the right environment to be able to make and prepare a Final Fantasy VII remake within a year, we'd very much like a go at it!"

What do you think? Is it a good idea to remake Final Fantasy VII for a new generation of gamers, or is it just a pointless waste of time and money?

Starbreeze
The Swedish developers behind The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Starbreeze have announced that they have an upcoming project being made for EA.

The cancelled project has not been revealed but Starbreeze were working on a title known as Project RedLime for EA. It’s believe that Project RedLime was going to be a revamp of the Syndicate franchise.

Starbreeze CEO, Johan Kristiansson said:

"We will continue to focus only on a big production together with EA."

"Our relationship with EA is stronger than ever, and the aim now is to spend more resources on the game that demonstrated the greatest potential. This game is already in full production."

Kristiansson ensured people that the recent cancellation of the game will not affect their members of staff or their projects with other publishers.

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has announced that a playlist update for Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 has been released, fixing the so-called 'super speed' glitch.

The glitch sees people placed into matches with the ability to sprint around the map as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog. Obviously this makes them tough targets to hit as they run in and knife unsuspecting players.
Modern Warfare 2
Bowling has said, via his Twitter page, that a playlist update "should" now be on its way down Xbox consoles, getting rid of the glitch once and for all.

We don’t like the sounds of that “should”. We’d much rather prefer a “will” or “definitely”, but whatever.

Jack Tretton, the president and CEO of Sony America, has confirmed that Killzone 3 is on the way.

When asked, by GameTrailers.com, about the PlayStation Move at this year’s GDC, Tretton confirmed that Killzone 3 was coming, but was uncertain about an announcement at this year's E3. Tretton said:

"Well, we own Guerrilla Games and they did a great job on Killzone 1 and 2. I don't know if you'll see announcements about it, but I can promise you a Killzone 3."
Killzone
He did say, however, that Sony fans will have a lot to be excited about at E3

"This is just the frosting on the cake, I'm saving the batter for E3. We will absolutely bring the heat, there's a lot to talk about."

Both Killzone 1 and 2 were huge games when they were released, so we can expect the third games in the series to have the same success… as long as they don’t tak-on any stupid Move motion controls.

Nintendo legend, Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that Pikmin 3's development is "well under way."

The creator of Mario, Link and Donkey Kong broke the news to the Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK following his acceptance of the Fellowship Award at last night's BAFTA games awards ceremony.

The magazine‘s Twitter page announced:

"ONM is at the BAFTA’s! Miyamoto just told us Pikmin 3 development is 'well under way'."
Pikmin
With the re-releases of both Pikmin 1 and 2 it was pretty obvious to anyone with an IQ higher than a monkey that a third game in the series was inevitable. But what could we be seeing in the third game that we haven’t already experienced in the previous two?
